HistoryThe Corpo Bandistico di Isola Vicentina starts between the 50's and 60's of the 19th century to support the important religious solemnities such as 40 ore di Adorazione (the first official document is from 1862). The band falls apart and in 1888 it forms again. In 1899 changes its name to Società Filarmonica Giuseppe Verdi. After the First World War the group goes back to be involved with the religous activities even though, with the begnning of Fascism, the band is forced to change its name to Banda del Dopolavoro. The band then splits in two: one closer to the church, the other to the podestà, the banda bianca and the banda mora (the white and the black band). During the Second World War the few youngs left forms the Fanfara della GIL which, at the end of the conflict, forms a new group with the old musicians under the direction of M° Roberto Draghi. The management becomes independent, even if the relationship with both the local church and the council remains stable. At this stage the name is changed to Corpo Bandistico di Isola Vicentina. The group, eventhough through ups and downs and several changes growns both in quality and quantity. From 1985, under the direction of M° Giansilvio Bertacche, a new era begins with a renovated repertoire and a new approach to the music, the band start playing unusual and fascinating genres for both the concerts and parades. In 2007 the band celebrates 145 years anniversary with a full series of concerts, meetings and educational performances. shows
